About JAQUAN AUSTIN

JAQUAN AUSTIN

Description

Next Level Prospect Evaluation Jaquan Austin 6' 2" 205lbs. OLB 2012 Jaquan Austin has an excellent upside, he has good height (6’ 2”) athletically built and has a very good wingspan and long body that should fill out. Jaquan should be able to add great bulk while maintaining his excellent vertical speed. Appears to have good scheme versatility, with the rare physical skills to play the Sam or Will positions in college. Could be a great 3-4 outside linebacker, with his ability to set the edge versus the run and provide pass-rush pressure. He's a strong tackler who explodes on contact and demonstrates great full-body strength when driving through ball carriers. Has a long stride and great sideline-to-sideline range. Will turn and chase, and is very difficult to run at or away from on the perimeter. Flashes the speed and closing burst to chase down plays from the backside. Has the quickness to slip blocks and the long, strong hands to make sealing and reaching him on the front side difficult for opponents. Knows how to use his frame and good upper-body strength to maintain outside leverage on pulling linemen and force the run inside. His first-step quickness and ability to create separation and keep blockers off his body make him an effective blitzer. Shows good athleticism and smooth hips in coverage. If Jaquan plays with a relentless motor on every snap and continues to add good bulk and strength, he could develop into a highly disruptive outside linebacker at the next level. .......................... Has great quickness and a knack for avoiding a block. He follows that up with the ability to make the play. Strong tackling skills and ability to read the flow of a play. Almost has an innate sense of what's going to happen next and puts himself where the ball is going to be. He is tremendous coming off the edge as he has a quick get off from a two point stance. Demonstrates versatility by also dropping into coverage and getting into throwing lanes. Makes the most of his athleticism / strength combination. The scheme he plays in is well suited for his skill set. Plays with emotion and his teammates seem to feed off of his energy. Versatility will be a plus for any defense that he lines up in. Goals and Interests MY SHORT TERM GOALS ARE TO BE A TOP 50 PREP PLAYER THIS SEASON, HELP MILFORD TO THEIR FIRST EVER UNDEFEATED SEASON, GET THE ATTENTION OF SOME TOP RATED DIVISION 1 AND 2 RECRUITERS, GET A FULL RIDE ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP AND GRADUATE WITH A DEGREE IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE. LONG TERM GOALS ARE TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, PLAY PROFESSIONAL FOOTBAL AND TO WORK WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT.
